Phil Anderson, WØXI

Phil W0XI and Pat N0GZZ

Biography:

Each of us has a unique path to retirement, bringing with it a common time to play with our radio toys! I obtained my novice ticket in ~ 1955, KNØHSB. Moved from KS to NY in 63 to work for IBM, upgrading there to tech, worked mostly 6-meters. Returned to KS in 70 and founded Kantronics to manufacture automation gear for assembling car wiring harnesses. In 75, Lee Bergren, WØAR (SK), KC MO, suggested I renew my expired ham ticket and apply my computer expertise to amateur radio! He took me to the Federal Building in downtown, suggesting that I retake the novice through extra class in one sitting. I did so and passed them! The Field Day code reader, TTY units, packet and paging controllers followed over three decades. It was a fun ride. In retirement I enjoy crystal radio, CW, QRP, other aspects of radio, and options trading.

There is life after retirement! 72, Uncle Phil, WØXI, Lawrence, KS.
