Craig Behrens, NM4T

Biography:

I'm a past QRP Quarterly magazine Editor (QRP ARCI's 40th Anniversary issues); a past President of the North Alabama DX Club; a QRP contester in the Alabama Contest Group (ACG); a member in the Huntsville Amateur Radio Club (HARC) and a proud member of the North Georgia (NoGA) QRP club. I have been DX as V47Z during the CQWW SSB and have been part of a team that activated all 3 Alabama lighthouses in 2012. I love to organize and participate in portable operations as often as possible. I'm also a certified PADI Rescue Diver who has had the privilege to "get wet" at 27 islands, so far.

I'm now retired from ITT's Space Systems Division (2005) where I served as an IPT Lead for the CrIS Instrument on the NPP Satellite, a next generation weather satellite that was positioned and deployed in 2012--just in time to save many lives during Hurricane Sandy. I'm also a certified corporate VBLSS Black Belt.

Many in our international QRP community calls me"The Hunstville QRP Guy,"because I organize the Huntsville Hamfest QRP forums and special QRP events that we conduct in nearby Monte Sano State Park. (Past "Two Days in Huntsville (TDiH) QRP events include special celebrations for QRP ARCI's 40th and 50th anniversaries.)

I currently write a quarterly column for the QRP Quarterly and I make frequent contributions to CQ and QST Magazines and a number of newsletters.

I love to build my own radio and antenna equipment. I'm currently experimenting with portable array antenna hybrid designs that combine Buddipole and addititional home-made components. I plan to use these in my next portable operation adventures.
