Biography:
David Cripe, NM0S, was bitten by the radio bug at age 7, and spent
endless late night hours of childhood listening to a succession of
crystal, broadcast, and shortwave radios. Dave was first licensed
as KA9MCV in 1981, while a student at University of Illinois, where he
received a degree in Engineering Physics.
Following graduation, he took a position at Westinghouse Electric
Defense Center in Baltimore, designing VLF transmitter circuitry.
This was followed by stints designing transmitter circuitry at
Broadcast Electronics and Harris Broadcast Division. He is
currently an engineer at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Dave has been a QRP enthusiast since becoming a licensed amateur.
His interests include Class-E power amplifiers, ultra-low-cost and
minimalist transceiver design, filter theory, antennas, VLF, analog
circuit design, crystal and regenerative receivers, alternative energy,
and portable HF operation.
David and his wife Karen live in Mount Vernon, Iowa with their two youngest children.
