OzarkCon Master of Ceremonies

Ron Potter, AG1P

Ron Potter, AG1P

Biography:

As a high school student in the mid-1960s, Ron was first introduced to amateur radio by an Elmer who lived next door and was immediately caught up in building his own gear from scrounged parts. In the early 1970s, Ron took a sabbatical from the hobby to raise a family and further his career.

Besides a stint as a full-time paid firefighter, he is a retired computer geek with nearly 40 years experience. Prior to retiring in 2004, he took up the hobby again where you can find him on the HF bands or at the bench working on projects, which these days are primarily involved with QRP.  If that isn't enough, he was mayor of the city of Forsyth Missouri from 2010 thru 2012 and was a very active volunteer in Emergency Management.
He is semi-retired and his primary duties are spoiling grandchildren. When not tackling that tough assignment, he is an Alderman, now running for Mayor, of his city and a freelance writer and conference speaker who has spoken across the US and Europe about best practices and efficient processes in managing large computer systems.
